Anne van As (The Hague, 1959) lives and works in Amsterdam. She studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. Her work consists of paintings and drawings. She is fascinated by nature: its vast plains, mountains, plants, flowers and animals. In her work, man is no longer visible and everything you see is covered in a haze. This desolate and ethereal quality represents a world of memory and the impossibility of re-enacting the past. This reminiscence makes for an image that is at the same time both ominous and melancholy.
